Today started with the opening ceremony of the Lewis and Clark Festival in Hartford, IL.
As part of the opening ceremonies, Bud Clark - Great, Great, Great Grandson of William
Clark - was shuttled across the Mississippi River by Hovercraft.
The river journey started from the festival as the hovercraft teams left with the company
of replicas of boats that were used in the original Lewis and Clark voyage. After a short
time the boats were not able to keep up with the faster hovercraft and our hovercraft team
found themselves alone as they headed up the river. Much to the teams surprise they spotted
another hovercraft in the distance! Fellow Hoverclub of America member Andy Pittman of
Kansas City, MO joined up with our team to cruise the rest of the way to Hermann, MO.
After about 3 hours the hovercraft team arrived at their first destination at Hermann, MO
at mile 98.
The team will head out in the morning and travel about 100 miles to Booneville, MO (mile 197)
for refueling before they reach their destination of the day at Parkville, MO (mile 377) After
a stop in Parkville the team will continue on until dark and spend the night on the river.
