The UH-13T is a high speed cruiser capable of speeds in excess of 70 mph. The lightweight rectangular design combination with a 2-stroke thrust engine allows the 13T to accelerate like sports car over any terrain. It maneuvers very well at high speed and at low speed in tight conditions.
It's powered by two engines. The lift fan is powered by a vertical shaft 8 to 15 horsepower lawn tractor engine. Briggs & Stratton, Tecumseh, Honda, Kohler or Robin engines work well. The thrust propeller is powered by a 2-stroke snowmobile type engine. Rotax, Yamaha, Polaris and Hirth engines work well. Some builders choose to power the craft with four stroke engines such as the Briggs & Stratton 35, EA-81 Subaru, HKS or modern 4-stroke engines removed from snowmobiles.
Construction is from wooden ribs and stringers covered in plywood. This construction technique is lightweight and allows the builder to install storage compartments in the hull between the ribs. The craft can be built with or without a thrust duct.
