Universal Hovercraft UH18SP-Wide Body - Price: $24,500 SOLD

Model: UH-18SP-Wide Body
S
peed: 60 mph
Payload: 1200 lbs
Passengers: 5 comfortably
Year built: 2004
Thrust engine: EA-82 Subaru, 95 hp
Thrust propeller: 60 inch – 53 pitch wood propeller with reinforced leading edges
Lift engine: 22 hp Kohler
Lift propeller: 9-blade Multi-Wing

This 18SP was built by Bob Zang of Universal Hovercraft. The hull is based on the standard UH-18SP design. Initially the craft was built as a single engine machine – then later a lift engine was added. The craft is very well built.

The wide body cockpit (52 inches) gives a huge amount of space for gear, camping supplies, ect. The rear seat is very comfortable (couch like). Beverage holders are conveniently located and can be folded up when not in use.

The craft has a full instrumentation package including rpm, skirt pressure, oil pressure, water temperature, voltage and hour meter. Joystick steering is used to control 4 vertical rudders and one horizontal trim wing. The craft is very maneuverable at low and high speed.

4 compact headlights illuminate your way for night time operations. Front and rear navigation lights are included. A heavy duty windshield wiper keeps the front glass clean on land and water.

The cockpit has two removable gull wing doors for summer or winter operation. The heating system keeps the cockpit 70+ degrees even on cold winter days.

Stereo powers two 6 x 9 speakers. Music sounds good while in flight. Speakers are removable and can be used on the beach for good sound while camping or hanging out.

The trailer is included. It has a 2” ball, LED lights and 14” rims (they look good). Trailer is typically used for water launching only as it has no tilt mechanism.

Lift engine was added in 2010 and has only 12 hours. Skirt was replaced in June of 2011 and has only 5 hours.

Looking for an extremely high end, well built hovercraft? This machine was built by Travis & Shane Wilkey, two highly skilled UH craftsman. The craft was finished in June 2010 and operated just long enough (40 hours) to work out all the bugs.

The craft is made from Polyiso foam, marine plywood and fiberglass. Polyiso foam is the best quality core material available and is used extensively in aircraft wing construction. The marine plywood is laminated in a layer of 6 ounce fiberglass on each side to create a high strength and permanent structure.

The craft has a removable top that provides shade in the summer while adding to the sleek lines of the craft. A removable sunroof allows the pilot to stand in the craft while operating.

The thrust engine runs perfectly. With a 2,000 lb payload the thrust engine runs at 2,500 rpm. Average fuel economy is 15 mpg. With a light payload the craft can easily achieve 20 mpg.

The seating was designed for the craft to be used in a hovercraft ride configuration. 12 passengers can comfortably fit in the cockpit.

The control system includes three vertical rudders for steering and one horizontal wing for trimming the craft. Rudders are operated with a joystick; left right moves the rudders and moving the joystick up & down operates the trim wing. A twist grip throttle on the joystick controls thrust engine rpm. The throttle has a friction lock for cruising.

Lift engine is controlled with a lever in the instrument panel. The lever friction locked and is infinitely adjustable.

No trailer is available at this time, however the brothers will build one to fit should you require the option.
