The UH-15TA features a polystyrene foam core with aluminum skin. The thick foam core hull provides fail-safe positive flotation and improved rough water handling. This hovercraft was designed for operating on large bodies of water such as Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.

An increased hover height and thick hull structure make the craft very stable in large waves. Most builders choose to use a 2-stroke thrust engine and 4-stroke lift engine. Air cooled thrust engines (Rotax, Yamaha, Polaris, Hirth, HKS, Kawasaki, Suzuki) work well. Briggs & Stratton, Honda and Tecumseh engines are preferred for lift however Kohler and Robin engines are good alternatives.
