Winter Cruise on Geneva Lake, WI
UH is hosting a cruise on Geneva Lake February 18th, 19th and 20th. This is an informal gathering of hovercraft and is intended to be extremely fun. We intend to hover no matter what the conditions are (please check in for updates before attending). Our typical day includes a cruise across the lake (8 miles) to the town of Lake Geneva. The town is filled with nice shops, restaurants and hotels. All are within walking distance of our parking spot on the lake. After a relaxing look around we’ll head back across the lake to our favorite lunch restaurant Harpoon Willies. Harpoon Willies is a nicely decorated bar/grill with the best burgers you’ll find anywhere. After lunch we head back out to the lake for another cruise and general operation.
For those that like to sample the spirits there are four bar/grill establishments around the lake and all are accessible by hovercraft. On most weekends the lake is busy with excitement. Ice boats, snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, airplanes, helicopters and trucks are all playing in various parts of the lake. The lake is big enough to host all of these activities with room to spare.
We will provide a warming tent, snacks and beverages out on the lake. Bathrooms are available at various locations around the lake. If you intend to stay and cruise with us Sunday you will find many resorts, hotels and motels available.
Should a tremendous storm hit the lake on the day of the cruise we may reschedule. Cold weather, wind, snow or melting ice will not cancel the event. This is the location most cruisers will be starting at. Rooms start at $99 per night.
The abbey is just 2 miles by lake or 4 miles by car from the launching site. This is a huge resort hotel with pools, spa, restaurants, bars , and game rooms all built into one complex. It's just 100 yards from the lake. It is highly likely we can park the hovercrafts on the lake overnight.
